  • Transmission / Overdrive: Location of shift linkage lube port?

Was out doing a chassis lube on Barney yesterday, and I couldn't find the fitting for the transmission shifter linkage. The Shop Manual identifies one fitting at what appears to be the base of the steering column, to be shot with chassis lube along with the rest of the front end. I couldn't find it!

Can anyone tell me where this is? My car has a Flight-O-Matic, by the way.

    Thanks!

Not sure what year/model you are working with, but most have a single grease fitting (zerk) located on the selector shaft lever (near where the back-up light/starter safety switch link rod connects). Many Shop Manuals have a close-up picture of it.

If you cannot locate using the above, I'll scan & post a pic. of it

Clark, on a '63, there is one on Manual shift only, there should be a footnote and " * " there somewhere that says that.
