  • Interior: 64 commander window problems

Hi everyone, The driver side window gave out on me.

It won't roll up or down. The handle will spin around but the window wont move.

    What could have broken?

Sounds to me like the window regulator shaft is stripped. Either a used regulator or possibly have yours rebuilt. I'm not positive but I believe Studebaker International has a rebuild service for them. If I'm wrong I'm sure others will chime in & correct me or offer others that can rebuild it.

Hard to tell from here but, I think your best move would be to remove the trim panel and find out.
Could be something simple or the regulator may need replaced. Good used can be found and SI does rebuild with your core.

A shop manual would be a big help here, as the window and regulator bolts should be removed in a particular order. The job is not difficult if done right, and is impossible if not. If it's not broken, the regulator spring is pretty strong and can give your hand (or the glass) a pretty good whack if its tension is not relieved.

Where can I find a shop manual for my car? Or is there any kind of window and regulator bolt orders online?

            Its a 1964 Commander Sedan.

            Thanks everyone.
