  • Exhaust against oil pump

    Hello Everyone!

Regarding my 57 hawk with a champion 6 motor---The oil pump is very close to where the exhaust pipe comes out of the motor(right below the donut gasket). In fact, it is actually touching the outside of the pump. It looks like someone has "dented" the pipe so it would clear the outside of the pump. As I said, the very hot pipe actually is resting against the pump. Does anyone know if this is normal, or has the exhaust been installed incorrectly? The oil pressure is not fantastic anyway & I wonder if this could be problematic. Regards---Dan

I believe the original pipe had an indent that allowed it to clear the pump but it was still close.
