The C-K oil pans (V8 engines)had a sump that's instantly distinguishable from those used on sedan-wagon engines. It's easily twice as long as the sump the sedan engines sported!
You're not gonna find ANY identifying numbers onthe pans.
This C-K pan is peculiar to '53, '54 & '55. With '56 they used the same pan - C-K or sedan.

    I guess I wasn't clear on this.
Club member tells me that the parts book says that the oil pan has a different part# than the other V/8 models of that year.
I don't have a parts catalog for the 55 model year.
So, question is, is the oil pan different from later year V/8 powered cars?
Is the oil pan for a 55 C/K exclusive for that year?
If it is different? What are the differences?
What should we be looking for, part/stamping #'s?
    once again, thank you.

I believe C/K's were shallower with a longer sump from the sedans.

    Speedster oil pan?

I was asked by a member of our local club what the difference is for a 55 C/K oil pan. (V/8)
    I have no idea..
Can someone tell me what is, or is there a difference?
If there is how does one find the difference?
    ID#'s?
    Shape?
    Help!

    much thanks,
    George
