  • 53 Coupe Gas Tank

I've just removed my gas tank, the outlet is a threaded fitting for a flared tube.

The other/new tank i have, which I believe is in better shape, has a only a small tube stub instead of a threaded fitting.

    Anyone know which is stock?
I suppose I could use a small piece of hose to hook up the new tank, but I prefer the fitting, any suggestions?

I cannot weld on new tank as it has been coated inside.

The inverted flair is the original fitting.

If the stub is a standard size use a compression union to plumb it in solid or flare it like a brake line if the stub is long enough.

Good idea the compression fitting, I'll have to check it out. Too short to flare.

        Thanks
