  • 12 volt coil with voltage drop

    If I want a 12 volt coil with the built in resistor,to avoid a ceramic resistor, will the auto parts man know which coil. Hope it is a coil and not a super high priced coil,Ha, ha.

    Just buy one of the Accel or whatever internal resistance coils from the shiny go-fast stuff aisle at Pep Boys, it will work.

    That said, I like the external resistor - because the bypass terminal on the solenoid will allow it to get a shot of full battery voltage when starting. Ask JP how much quicker his '53 with the Ch*vy engine started once I noticed that the bypass wire was missing

      As I understand it, there are two basic choices, internal or external resistor. The variations on the theme is whether or not it is a high output or somewhere in between.
