I have two almost-identical Flight-o-matic/Ford-o-matic trannys laying apart on my bench. I noticed that the clutch packs in the Ford unit have one tooth missing in every composition plate, and two teeth missing in every steel plate. They are not broken, simply made this way. On the other hand, the Stude tranny with the original(?) bronze plates have no teeth missing in either set.
Any idea why this was? I have not received my rebuild kit and new clutch packs yet so don't know what the 'new' ones are like, just curious why this would be.
