Re-wire a 49 Coupe

Rewireing the tail lights on a 49 going to 12 volt, I have a coupe of questions, (1) what light bulbs do you use, (12Volt) (2) is one side the brake and the other the tail light. Thanks Mike

1176 bulbs will work in place of the original 6 volt units. These will have two filiments, one for brake and turn signal (if so equipped) and one filament for taillight.
