  • Champ/Lark heat control knobs

[)]Surely, I'm not the only one who has this problem. I always forget that my heat control cable is stiff, and then I just reach up and pull the knob......and off it comes in my hand. Just exactly what is it that needs lubed to prevent this? And once it happens, what's the magic fix for reattaching the knob?[)]

    Hey AJ,
I've used a good quality penetrating oil to loosen the cable in its housing then rub down with a heavier oil to be sure its moves in and out freely, wipe excess off. It also has a gear and cable on the mechanism that needs to be loosened and lubed. One cable goes to heater control valve, other to heat/defrost lever.
On the back of knob you'll see a piece that will spring down to keep tension on the slot that's on the rod that goes in and out. It's easier to remove assembly to accompish all of the above. If ya have trouble I have one that I'm not gonna use since selling my 60 lark. Pay the ship when ya get it and we'll call it even. Let me know and I'll dig it out and be sure it's loosened up and ready to install.
