  • Champion head bolt torque pattern?

hi I would like to try and fire up this motor in the 50 Champion I've aquired, but I want to double check the head bolt torque before I do. I haven't ordered a manual yet, will do so shortly, but in the meantime does anyone have a link to a picture, or a scan of the torque sequence?
I believe the proper torque is 52 ft.lbs......

if possible, please send it to hornett@telus.net if possible

    Here ya go, Bob.

This is from a 2R truck manual. It is the same 170 cu. in. Champion Six as used in your 1950 Champion (unless someone has transplanted a Commander motor into it, in which case I can give you that bolt sequence, too).

For the sake of trivia, here is a tidbit from that 2R manual, although I don't know what model year the manual was printed: The 2R5, 2R10 and 2R15 trucks all used the Champion Six. The 2R16 and 2R17 used the Commander "big" Six.

Thanks Paul! that's awesome! I printed it out and took it to the shop.... of course, dumba** me, not having worked with a torque wrench for a while, found out that all those parts like carb and oil filter were going to have to come off again, so I could swing the torque wrench.... doh!
