  • Adhesive for under carpeting

I took out the nasty padding that was under my carpet and am replacing it with some of that silver, heat resistant, sound-proof padding (I can't remember what it's called offhand). Anyway, what sort of adhesive should I use to keep it in place as I put new carpet down over it?

Any contact adhesive spray by 3M is going to be worlds better than a similar product made by anyone else. That's why it's $15 per can compared to the $8 per can price on the other brands. I would only trust the lesser brands for horizontal gluing, such as your case of gluing something down to the floorboard. Definitely 3M for putting it on the ceiling above your headliner, or gluing a Dynamat type product vertically inside a door skin.
