    This happened to me last winter. Finally, after replacing the brake switch and checking
    shoe springs, I bought a new Master Cylinder. After removing the old one I noticed the return
    channel was nearly fully blocked wiyh sludge. Try clearing your brake lines.

    Could be brakes are not releasing completely, switch works with pressure so if brake lights are on there is excessive pressure remaining in brake system. Check to see if you have some free play at the brake master cylinder pushrod, should be about 3/8 of an inch

    brake lights are staying on,57 silver hawk,i have replaced the brake light switch,worked as should for about 1 day.no problem with brakes,any ideals
