Try jc whitney? They have a searchable website, but at quick glance I didn't see any 6-12 volt inverters.I know little about electrical, can 12 be had from 6?? I know there are reducers for say,12 volt to 6 volt..

I don't know about 6 to 12 volt inverters, but if you go to this website:

      http://www.reconnsworld.com/power_voltdoubler.html

you can get a schematic for a voltage doubler using an IC555 timer that can be used to power low amperage 12 volt stuff in your 6 volt car. Unfortunately, it won't work for the magnetic clutch on an air conditioner compressor. It can be used for things like an electric fuel pump or a fan in the air conditioner or heater. Or you could run your cell phone charger. What are you planning?

        Hi 55 prez

        Try www.powerstream/dc6-12.htm

They have invertors up to 15 amps and 30 amps. 150 watts.
Probably run what you want .

Thanks to all for the responses. I'm going to fit a 12V radio/cdplayer to the 55 for long distance tunes

For that application, you will want an inverter/converter. Remember, besides going from 6 volt to 12 volt, you also want to go from positive ground to negative ground. I have one here that I used in a '53 in the '70s (for a 5 watt cb radio). I paid $35 for it then and would sell it for that much now (plus shipping). It is an E. F. Johnson Co. unit, P/N 239-0120-002 and it is Made in USA. I mounted it up behind the dash, out of sight. Maybe you can find something locally, or cheaper, to do what you want.

                Gary,
If 55Prez does not want to buy your converter, I will buy it.

Invertor and converter combos are not easy to come by from my past experience.
