    I recently picked up a BW T-96. What is the current market for these things?

    T-96? Not much. They were used behind the 6s. There's alot of them around thanks to "upgrading". Of course, if you NEED one.

      Anyone with a straight 3-speed behind a six would love to convert to overdrive. Champion 3-speeds do not love the highway but the overdrive can make it downright pleasurable. I would think, if it's good, it can be quickly sold. Ofcourse it would also require the lockout cable, kickdown switch, wireing harness and relay, if so equipped.

        I might be interested... Do you know its condition? Do you have all the peripheral stuff rockne10 mentioned (cable, switch, wiring, relay, etc.)? Let me know what you know, and if you have a price in mind. Also, depending on your location it might not be practical (I'm in Las Vegas)

        By the way, I assume this will work on a '51 Champion as an upgrade... right?

          Depends on whether it's a short or long tailshaft and 6 or 12V solenoid. you want short tailshaft (no slip yoke) and 6V for a '51.

            vegas paul,

            In addition to what Nate mentioned, (assuming your car never has had OD) you'd need an O/D relay and a kickdown switch AS WELL AS an OD control cable. IF you went thru with the change, I might have ALL or at least some of the stuff you'd need. I DON'T happen to have the short-tailshaft OD tranny you'd need, but there really are a good number of them around.

              I have two 6V short shaft trans. Don't know the internal condition because I inherited them with some other Stude stuff I needed, but should be OK because the little 6 does't have the power to do significant damage.

                Hey - I resent that! Who says my little 6 doesn't have enough... on second thought, you're right... very little power. but it's getting better as I get though mu restoration list.

                I think the 3 speed OD would be a nice enhancement to my car and if anyone has one that wouldn't cost an arm and a leg to purchas AND SHIP to Las Vegas, I would be interested.

                Mr. Biggs - Thanks for the reminder, I know I need the other peripheral stuff too and since I'm contemplating switching to 12V I need to make that decision before getting the relay. (I know the 6V/12V discussion has been debated countless times, so I won't get into it here, but suffice to say that SHMBO* wants some 12V accessories).

                  Some thing else to be considered is rear end ratio. 3.31 3.55 3.73 are pretty high to use with overdrive 4.11 4.27 4.56 are really nice with over drive nice power and hill pulling power out of overdrive nice cruising when in overdrive. I had 53 commander with overdrive and 4.56 was a great combination for driving in western Pa.

                        Yeah, if you're going TO Overdrive, the front section of the driveshaft gets shortened a bit less than 9". (this is for the '51)

                            Yea talk about a shot 6cyl and 3.73 gears in a Lark in western pa....lots of quick down shifts to first pulling hills... fixed that w/4.10's and OD.....now for the body

                              A friend of mine wanted to install OD in his '52 Champion and, since we had a long-tail 12-volt available, we shortened the driveshaft and added a splined yoke, replaced the solenoid with 6-volt, installed a relay and he's lovin' it.
