  • mileage

    Big 6 engine, 3spd wOD. Getting 12mpg. 48 Land Cruiser 73k orig miles, car has sat for 10 + years with marginal use til we bought. Burns a quart every 400 miles approx. Give us your thoughts. Thanks

    Thinks you need a ring job ,carb work ,and a tune up.

      Drive the heck out of it for a while. The rings should break loose and mileage will improve, as will oil consumption. Change the oil often, and use a high detergent oil. See how it is in a couple of thousand miles. A carb kit and adjustment would also help. Make sure the overdrive is working properly.

        Carb rebuilt, tune up done. Will employ dtergent oil plus change often. Then as reccomended, we will drive "the piss out of it". Maybe we can avoid the ring job. Thanks[8D]

          A little Marvel Mystery Oil added to the crankcase and/or fuel may hasten the process.
