Are there repair kits available for the Carter 2bbl on a 259 V8 (car is a '56 Commander). Alternatively, are there other model, readily available, carbs that can be adapted to the 259?

    Thanks

You can buy a kit from one of the Studebaker parts vendors OR you can stop in at your local NAPA and tell them you want a kit for a Stromberg WW carb. MANY other vehicles used variants of this carb even into the '70s.

You can also get really high quality kits from Jon Hardgrove at
The Carburetor Shop. www.thecarburetorshop.com/ His carbs and
kits are a bit pricey, but they're top-notch. I've used a lot of
them and never had a complaint.

I've recently rebuilt two WCFB carbs using kits from Fairborn Studebaker & Studebakerparts.com (Chuck Collins). Both kits were fine with nice, fresh gaskets and accelerator pumps. I think both kits were in the 40-dollar range.
