I say a light with switch mounting hole. It resembles a tolit paper holder, but Studie did not make SUVs.

Anyone who's been watching eBay knows this one, but I will admit not eveyone has a '57 wagon like me, so they may not have noticed!!! It fits '57 & '58 wasgons... for the license plate 'bracket' on the tailgate if you will. I am right, right?

No deceptive flags to prove I'm patriotic - no biblical BS to impress - just ME and Studebakers - as it should be.

Is that the thing that works the hinge for the tag "bracket" when you let the tailgate down???

            Yes Matt,it's the Bezel,license lamp housing #1320452W view #0620-4-5 on Pg.181 plate 06-23 in the '55 to '58 Chassis Parts catalog in group 6, Electrical. Fits '57 & '58 non-Scotsman models.
A very hard to locate item in the book, I have been selling Stude. parts for 36 years using these books and it still took me a while to find it. I looked in the Body book under Station wagon group & under tailgates for the trim items, nameplates etc. and because they considered it to be part of the license light rather than tailgate trim, it's in the Chassis book!

It's just not fair! I've never even seen one of those old wagons! [)]Lucky if I know where half the parts go back on my own cars...
