  • 8 &6 cyl.auto transmissions

Is the 6 cyl.auto trans.(1963) the same externally as the 8 cyl.
Will it bolt up to a V/8,is the input shaft the same length & number of splines ? The sump pan is different as the filler tube comes out of the side on the 6 cyl.trans.,But the pans should switch--right ?
also the 6 cyl. trans would have a 1st gear start,I think !
My friend borrowed my manual & then took-off for the sun for a month.
I have a chance for a FREE ! good trans. from a rodder & he will scrap it if I don't take it.

Two completely different transmissions with virtually no interchangeable parts. If it was a 1962 or earlier 6 cyl. A/T, then it would be the same externally as a V8.
