  • 1955 president speedster

what differentiates this model from pres., commander, et al coupes and hardtops ?

The Speedster was a one year only top of the line model of the C K Coupe model. It is a pillar-less (no b-post) President Coupe model with special body trim. Most were 2 or 3 tone paint (although I have seen solid color ones), and were equipped from the factory with heavy cord long diamond stitch leather seats, special engine turned dash with tachometer and 160 MPH speedometer, and 185 Hp Passmaster 259 V-8 engine. Some things that were options for other models were standard on the Speedster, such as fog lamps, back-up lights, and wire wheel covers.

In essence, the Speedster was a fully dressed President Hardtop (K-body) with a bit of different trim and interior that couldn't be had (even optional) on the President. Chassis & running-gear wise, they're the same. Both had the same 259 V8 but the Speedster always had the 4bbl carb and dual exhausts.[^]
