I saw about a week back, 2 fiberglass fenders for a '62 GT Hawk on Ebay. I have a '63 GT Hawk and was wondering how good these are, and does anyone see these for sale very ofter at swap meets, etc. I think the pair sold for around $300, which seemed pretty good

Depends...
Glass fenders don't usually come with the inner liner, so some extra work is necessary. Also, except for 'race weight' fiberglass, 'glass is usually more heavy than steel. The 'glass fenders that sold from Avanti Motorcar Co. were real nice. I just saw a one piece 'glass '53 setup that was real nice... Same guy builds glass Hawk fenders and is up in Maryland.
You will have to do some work to make 'glass fenders look as good as steel fenders. Not too hard, but needed...

Thanks for the info. My main inquiry was because I was curious if this would be a feasible way to replace the fron fenders on my GT. I guess the answer is yes and no. Would take a little work, but if mine are really bad, this may make sense. If they are repairable, probably easier to get the patch panels. By the way, do you know who the person in Maryland that is creating them?

I have used fiberglass front fenders on a C/K body. 33 years later they are the same as when new. Do not get race weight for a street driven car. Besides the different weights/thicknesses, some have provision for the air inlet doors and some do not. That is your preference, but something to keep in mind. The ones that I used had the vent door mounting hinge hardware moulded into them. It took me more than six months to get mine from the Northwest and I do not believe that that outfit makes them any longer. Besides individual front fenders, you can also get an entire front clip/dog house assembly in fiberglass.Gary L.

The curve up front where the side grilles bolt in is different.
The RH fender inner liner is different (due to the heater box).
I suppose you could re-work the front corner (cut it out and re-mold the corner).

OK, another question, I noticed most of these are available for models up to '62 GTs. I know the "63-64 GTs had a different side grilles, but would there be any reason a '53-62 fender would not fit on a '63-64?HTIH (Hope The Info Helps)
