  • another tire ?

I have the stock rims for my 63 lark 6. what is the biggest tire I can put on these rims? I havent looked to see what size tire i have on currently but they are thin about 4 inches of tread width touch the ground.

Since your car is a six, you probably have 4.5" wide rims. You are probably looking at a 195/75R15 although you may be able to find some cheaper 205s that are narrow enough to work. Basically if you are tire shopping ask to make sure that the exact tires you are going to buy are approved by the mfgr. for use on 4.5" wide rims. Most 205s will only be approved for 5" and wider rims.

Alternately you could go to wider rims, but IME front fender space is at a premium in Larks and unless you have good front springs you will get tire/fender interference at full lock.

One alternative would be to run 14" wheels, but that will cause other issues, like changing your gearing and now your speedo will be somewhat inaccurate.

      good luck,

      nate
