  • T86 parts

As some may recall, awhile back I took three transmissions to make one overdrive, and put this along with a 4.09 TT in Snurdley's '63 beautiful Cruiser in place of the straight three speed and 3.31 rear it had.

I have the car back now as Mike (Snurdley's 17 year old son) shucked the low gear section of the cluster gear. Low gear is not too bad but I want to replace both while I have it apart. I used the best parts of the three transmissions and thought they were all pretty good but evidentely the cluster must have had a weak tooth. I didn't see any cracks when I put it together but it still knocked several teeth off it.

I have one cluster from the other two transmissions that might work but rather than chance it, I would like to put one in that looks real good.

If anyone has these two parts that are good from a T 86, I am interested in buying them. From what I can tell by the parts books, the '51 through '55 are the same for both gears and '56 through '64 are the same.

Does anyone know if the early will actually work in the later or not? I have a '51 that might have good gears but before I tear it apart, I would like to know if they will work.

I've searched Google and cannot find any parts there.

    Thanks.

Ted, I'll look thru my stuff tomorrow. The very same tranny I sold you the floor shifter top off of is still out in the shop. It was a great T-86 before some idiot decided he could scavenge it to add the OD section onto a T-96 He did this after asking me if it would interchange and me telling him "no".
The end result was I got all that was left after he'd scattered it and found out I was telling him the truth. This one was out of a '57 car.
Anyway, if the cluster gear's any good, it's yours.
