  • Heater Control valve

I was inspired to rebuild the heater valve in my 51 Commander because of an external leak-- antifreeze in the cabin. Having installed the kit, I now find I have an internal leak-- the shutoff does not shut off!

I suspect that the problem lies with the stopper/shaft. I have adjusted the rubber gasket to get proper action. Interestingly, when I test it with a garden hose, I find that the more water pressure I apply makes no difference in the rate of leakage.

Anybody out there experienced similar frustration??

    Thanks!

Are you routing the water through the valve in the right direction? If the flow direction makes no difference (the valve is made to work one way) then something didn't go back together quite right.
