1959-1961 HAWK WITH 3-SPEED TRANSMISSION.WHAT 4-SPEED WILL BOLT TO THIS HOUSING AND BE THE CORRECT CLUTCHSHAFT LENGTH ?

  • #2
None. A late 62-64 Ford pattern Stude will bolt up, but you need the 4 speed drive shaft. (Different spline and length.) You'll need some new clutch stuff and speedo cable too.

IS THERE A FORD 4-SPEED THAT WOULD WORK (MIGHT BE EASIER TO FIND)OR DO I NEED TO USE A STUDE TRANS ?ALSO I HEAR ABOUT THE STOCK CLUTCH LINKAGE NOT BEING STURDY ENOUGH FOR A STRONGER (HP) CLUTCH. WHAT CAN BE DONE ABOUT THAT ?

The hardest part is finding a Stude bellhousing with a Ford top loader aka Ford T85 or T10 bolt pattern then all you have to do is a little machine work on the throw out bearing collar. And a new clutch disk. And shorten your drive shaft. Nothing just bolts in.
