  • 61 Lark Taillight Lens

My Lark has really bad taillight lens from 45 years of solar flares and weather. Will the 59 or 60 Lark lens (they appear all red with no chrome) fit the 61? Thanks.

Doubtfull. The part numbers are different. '59 & '60 are:
    0619-18(A,B,C).
    The '61(S,V) and '62(S,V,D) are:
    0619-18.

Looking at the schematics on page 163 of the chassis catalog the fixture design looks slightly different on '61s as well. I have the same problem with my '62.[V] The tail lights are rare as hen's teeth and twice as expensive. I suppose a '63 would have it as bad as they have the same tail lights as mine.[V]

Add to that not a single parts supplier shows them in stock. One of those things that just make life more interesting, huh[?]

      Studeclunker,
Your parts numbers are actually illustration numbers
      59-60 tailamp body part #1332710 gasket 1331429
      61 left body part #1338885
      61 right body part #1338884
      61 gasket #1338883
So, not only will 59-60 not fit 61 but, left and right 61 don't interchange.

Also, the 63 tailights have chrome plastic spokes in the lens and are even rarer than the 62, though they will fit.

I ran 59 lenses on my 61 for years. You have to drill a hole for the mounting screws on one side if I remember right.

Yeah - the screw holes are different on the '61 lenses than they are on the 59-60 lenses. The contour of the lense's edge is a match tho.

I think I saw a pair of NOS '61 lenses on ebay this past week. Starting bid was $125 I think.[:0]

I checked with S.I. a few weeks ago on the '62 lenses. They said that there was a problem with the owner of the dies (or is that molds?). S.I. was'nt able to get the owner to use them to produce the lenses or to borrow them to get a third party (who was willing) to produce them. Another thing, the lenses that are planned to be produced will not have the crome outer rim. Bummer![V]

I suppose if they produce that outer rim in clear plastic one could paint it silver...[?]
