  • avanti brakes

    Trying to awaken a 63 avanti from a long sleep.
    Started right up trans shifts fine.
    Now the brakes , put new kits in the front calipers
    now it pulls to the left for an instant then the brakes are even.
    any sugestions, is this common?

    Have you shimmed the calipers correctly to center them on the disc?

        Tim: When I pulled my calipers off my '63 Avanti they were FOUR times further away from being centered within the rotor (.035" difference between the two halves) than the factory specs and my brakes were not pulling. So I'm not sure that this would be the main cause for brakes pulling--might be a suspect, but not necessarily (IMHO) a major cause. Course I've got the weird Avanti--so who knows!
