T 10 bellhousing

    Pulled engine and trans last night and was suprised by the bolt pattern on the transmission, 289 + 4 speed.
    Expected the one similar to ford
    The t10 bell has something like chevy
    If it is chevy will later chevy 5 speed work?

    Both patterns were used at various times. No a chevy 5 speed won't exactly bolt right up, but it will work if you mod it a little bit. I think you need to shave down the OD of the bearing retainer so it will fit the bellhousing, make an adapter pilot bushing to lengthen the "snout" of the input shaft and make it fit the crank, and also put a sleeve on the area where the throwout bearing rides? Someone please correct me if I got anything wrong. I know Malcolm Berry has done a couple 5-speed swaps, he all but convinced me to try one in my '55 coupe. Only thing stopping me right now is $$$...
