  • Power Steering Play

I overheard an Avanti owner talk of an adjustment on the steering box that would take up the slack (steering wheel play)on the power steering. This particular vehicle was an Avanti II. Don't know the year.

My question is, Is there such an adjustment for power steering on a 1960 Hawk?

There is an adjustment for play on the steering gear box, check the shop manual for details. I think, however that you will most likely find that to be fine. I believe that most cases of excessive steering play are due to a worn bellcrank center bearing. Check that and the tie rod ends first.
