I have been told 90 weight hypoid oil for the rear end of my 1955 President. Does the GL 5 , Gl-3, etc have any information needed to select a punkinball oil? Also is 80W-90 GL5,GL4,GL3 OK?

I use GL-5 without problems. There are proponents of Synthetics here also. I'm sure Redline makes a more than adequate replacement fluid. I'm just too cheap - er "frugal" - to spend the dough.[:I]
Miscreant at large. No deceptive flags to prove I'm patriotic - no biblical BS to impress - just ME and Studebakers - as it should be.

I had Redline Heavy Shockproof recommended to me by Ted Harbit for the rear end; I have it installed in both my Studes and it seems to work fine (including in the TT unit in my '62.)
