  • front seal too

I bought the modern seal in the front seal bezel from lionel stone
well the way the seal is put in the sheet metal it must go back towards the crank gear , its too deep hits the oil slinger.
called and he knows nothing about the instalation of his seal kit.
anybody know what up with this?
its a national seal 471424 also nothing for the damper hub so would run on the spiral groove in the hub

Lionals seal is for a aluminun cover not the early steel cover off the 51-55 that do not have a fuel pump attached. You have to machine the cover to remove the lip at the front if you try to just shove it in from the rear it will hit the slinger.

      Thanks Alan
The way the new seal is in that sheet metal bezel if you removed the lip on the alum cover it would have the open side of the seal tothe outside or towards the hub.
this seams backwards to me, also still would run on the groove in the hub.
Yes its an alum cover. guess could remove the seal from the bezel and turn it around. dont want to do this twice.
      Thanks
