  • Golden Hawk door panels

I want to keep the original upholstery in my 57 GH restoration project- there are some places on the bronze- looking mylar insert in the door panels where the color has been rubbed thin, showing a silver color underneath.

Has anyone had any luck with painting over that stuff?

There is a company called New York Bronze. They make metallic paints in both spray and in bottles. They have Gold, Chrome, Copper, Bronze, and Brass. It sprays fast, and wet, so make sure you mask the surrounding areas very well. The reason for the fast wet spray is so the metallic pigments come together and gloss over. If you mist spray it looks like gray paint.

You can also go to a good hobby shop and buy Testors Metallic Buffing paint. It is used for models, you apply with an airbrush or with a brush, once dry, you can overcoat with Testors Gloss coat. Do not use any other gloss.

Thanks! I've been having trouble finding a bronze window tint, so this sounds like the way to go.
