  • 289 FRONT SEAL CONVERSION

I have heard thru the grapevine there is a front seal conversion for my 289, using a Ford seal and a modification to the timing chain cover. Any input? Thanks

It's not a secret, if you get the TW, look in the back for the advertisement for the fella who's doing them. OR, see if you can talk Jeffster Rice, (who wanders through here from time to time), into doing it for ya.

Lionel Stone advertises in TW every month.
His ad shows the V8 cover for $50 (exchange)..gasket extra.

      Hope the info helps.

Or, you can do it yourself. National Oil Seal # 472924 for the seal And National # 99200 for the sleeve.

Can anyone tell me the number of the Ford seal or application, for the front seal conversion? I work in a machine shop and I would rather modify the front cover and use that seal and possibly be able to replace later on without removing the cover. I've seen the other seal conversion on the ncsdc website and it looks like its relying on alot of RTV. dclewallen
