  • 59 Lark rear end in a 49 2R5?

How do the rear end widths compare? I realize I'd probably have to reposition the spring pads, but will it otherwise work?

I dunno why it wouldn't work Bob. In fact, I think it's a great idea. I dunno about the trucks, but the later model car rears are about an inch wider than the '49 cars.

Bob a Champ parts truck I bought in Texas about 10 years ago had a Stude
car rear(Dana 44 3.31TT)in it. The only changes were the spring pads(i think, maybe just sloppy factory welds) and the "ears" for the bottom shock mounting bolts were welded on.

I think you will find the car rear will be about 3" narrower than your
truck rear. I am useing a Champ truck rear in my early C-cab and it is 3" to wide but will just clear the fenders.
