    Apparently the whole problem with the Presto is the advance mechanism. According to Dave Thibeault the Presto is a much superior dist. to a Delco in every other respect. Actually you might want to get in touch with him and see what he says about your dist. as I know he sells new weights with bronze bushings which if everything else is in good shape should solve your problem, he'd probably be able to tell you how to check the pins.

    do the delco dist work in say the 6cyl. 170 engines? please let me know cause i've been wanting to put a electronic conversion on my dist i just can't find any that will fit the prestolite dist.

    I gotta be honest Bruce, I've never changed the pins. I hate to say it but the only thing I do is replace the Prestolite dist with the Delco. I honestly don't like the Presto dist, but if that's all ya have to work with.... I can look at the Presto dist I have in my parts and see what it takes if you'd like? Do you have a service manual?

    I see that I can buy new weights for my Prestolite distributor (64 259), has anyone out there replaced the pins which these weights go onto?
    I hate to spend the $ only to have excess play to screw things up.
