Something else to consider for those interested in this swap. If you use the truck bellhousing, you must figure out a way to mount the rear of the tranny. The truck bellhousing does not have a lower mount like the passsenger bellhousings. Most manufactures prefer to use rear tranny mounts to secure the drivetrain as opposed to the bellhousing mounts used by Studebaker. It's also a good idea to adopt this system when coverting to a T-5 due to the fact that it is already equipted for a rear mount and because its aluminum case is weaker than the original Stude stuff. If you have the door to door crossbrace found on late model '53 and up C/K's you may be able to use it as a mounting point. If you decide to use a passenger car bellhousing you can use the original bellhousing mount, but consider adding a rear mount as well. -Will

We added a tranny mount to the Cursed Purple Hawk. There was some discussion about not adding that mount as you have some frame flex on Hawks and it might crack the trans case. We pulled it back off but found that we had a vibration that we could not get out until we re-installed it. So now we have the hand made motor mounts, the stock mount under the bellhousing and the hand made trans mount under the T5. All seems well at this point.
