    I'm sure that you can find the help you're looking for here Garrett. Can you tell us more about the truck, like condition and what you're planning on doing or what's already done? Have you bought any manuals for it? Thanks

      I am not real sure on what i am doing yet. I was thinking about parting it out. The body is pretty rough it has been parked since 1971. It ran when it was parked. My brother started sanding it down more than ten years ago. Then he perked it in a shed with a dirt floor.I do have all the emblems,split windshield,?????overdrive manual tranny????.I am interested in learning more before i make a decision

        Oh, OK, I thought you were just starting or already in the process of restoration. The M-Series trucks were built from 1941 through 1948.               My dad told me it was a 47. He is still trying to find the title.So with those numbers 2R6-12 it would be a 49?

                The designation 2R6 signifies a half ton truck with a high altitude engine (different head IIRC).

                  A 2R5 was a half ton pick up that came out for the 1949 model year. The 2R5 had a 170 cubic inch engine. In 1951, the 245 cubic inch engine became available in pick ups. The model designation for a half ton with that engine is 2R6. From 1951 through 1953 there were both 2R5 and 2R6 half ton pick ups. The 5 or 6 indicates the size of the engine. In 1954, the 3R series came out. This means that your pick up is a 1951 to 1953 with the large engine.

                    I appreciate the help. With a high altitude engine, does that mean it was made in a mountainous state.It ran when parked, and it had a name of a bussiness from Hillsboro, Illinois on the side of the bed.
                    This truck is pretty rough and if would be a very exspensive restoration.My brother was offered a fiberglass dog house for the tranny several years ago.But if you was to use that you would be going for a hotrod.My dad has a 1951 international that is completely original and runs good. I would probably restore that if I restore one. Hopefully I can get a studebaker car on down the road.

                      All vehicles back then, (or even later if they were carburated), were built for sea level Garrett. If the car went to a high altitude dealer, the dealer usually re-jetted the carb and reset the timing for their particular altitude. I'm pretty sure that a Hillsboro, IL car wouldn't need any adjustemts for high altitude. Since the time when new cars were equipped with computer controlled fuel systems, the computer delivers the optimum mixture at any altitude.

                        well i have decided this one is not worth restoring. If you would know any one interested i would like to sell it.I have emblems,tranny,engine,bed,rough fenders,front split window,grill,hood,and misc. I would prefer to sell it all together.I need to get it out of here. to many projects. I live in Bement, Il.central Il between Champaign and Decatur.Thanks
