    need help on how to replace outer grease seals and bearings on rear axle of 1951 champion coupe . any help would be good.please email info to Bob at barker@prtel.com

    Welcome to the SDC forum Bob, we are always glad to have new members or existing members who "find" the forum! [^]

    The Bearing & seal replacement job will be a lot easier WITH the Studebaker Shop Manual available at many of the vendors at: studebakervendors.com

    It should be a pretty straight forward R&R job though. If you have the correct parts & a proper drum puller. You will need 4 backing plate gaskets also. There is one on each side of the "stiffener" plate that goes between the backing plate & the outer Seal.

    The bearing replacement does require a hydraulic press or a machine shop to do that job of R&R'ing the Bearing to the axle shaft. I would not do all of that work to pull the axles without changing the Inner Axle Seals also.
