  • dash removal

    what is the simplist way to remove the dash, I removed one however I removed many bolts. I want to the remove the dsah pad to have it duplicated, is it possible?

    You'll likely destroy that crumbling cover trying to remove it and leave the dash in place. Just my opinion.[:I]

      I do not know what you mean by: "I removed many bolts"(when removing a dash once) but in my opinion, the Stude. Hawk dash is one of the simplest dashes to remove. There are only 2 bolts actually holding it on each end, then of course there are some screws along the front edge under the mouldings, the E-Brake assy, the dash to firewall brace and the oil press line. Then the whole wiring harness can be disconnected from the engine compartment and the complete assy. removed from the car for easy work on all the components including the dash pad. It is the only way I know to replace the pad correctly.

        when I took my first dash out , I removed the steering column bolts and the frame that the dash is bolted too, I know that as a mistake now. I know what you are talking about as far as the screws at the garnish mouldings and I do see the to bolts at each end of the dash frame, then that wood part under the emergency brake. I wanted to remove the dash pad while the guy's were redoing the interior so wecould just put it on after they paint the dash.

          The dash will come out all in one piece.
          I would also suggest you leave ALL the wires in place and feed them out with the dash (after labeling the ends)
