  • Afertmarket AirCleaner for WCFB carbs!

People have been discussing this and I see Studebaker Int'l has a complete unit for our WCFB carbs. Im thinking about ordering but first wanted to see if anyone else has used this.

If that link doesnt work look up part # 1562826 at stude intl..

Im adding a late PCV system so this does have the knock-out for that. My main concern is if it will fit with the stock early oil fill tube and top mounted generator. Of course if I make the PCV system I would block off the oil fill and use a valve cover type.

While I'm all for our vendors making an honest buck, the $229 for a simple chrome air filter cover and painted base might be a bit strong for some CASOs.

One alternative is the $4.69 Mr Gasket adapter ring one of the dozens of $29.95-to-$69.95 aftermarket chrome air cleaners.http://www.jegs.com/p/Mr-Gasket/Mr-G...43366/10002/-1
However, if it is going on an Avanti, check any aftermarket air cleaner setup for hood clearance. There isn't even 1/4" extra.

That's what I did! The Mr. Gasket ring and an Edelbrock 8" pancake. Does the trick.

Thanks for the tips but will that fit under the hood of a silver hawk using a WCFB? Not a lot of room there as well..

In fairness to the vendors, it's not just a chrome cover and base, it's a reproduction on the R1 unit, with better chrome. The tooling cost for a few 100 sales adds a bunch to the cost. As suggested, if you don't have a R1, it is silly overkill.
