  • 53 coupe door glass and channels

I am back to a long time project car, my 1953 coupe. The wing windows are cracked and bubbled. The channel material could use fresenhed up. Can someone point me to a source for window stuff? The regulators seem ok after clean and lube. I am in the SF Bay area. Thanks Scott

Any reputable auto glass shop can and will make new windows (flat glass)

The channels are available through many of our vendors, see home page "Vendors"

I bought a kit from S.I. for the rubbers and channel felt (cat whiskers?) and clips, etc. Everything seems to be going in as planned.

          Just a couple of thoughts.

I bought all the parts except glass for my 54 for Studebaker International. But I'll bet any Stude vendor can supply those.

The glass was a different story. I was going to buy locally for the glass outfit that supplied the glass for several previous cars. They changed hands and the price quoted by the new folks was 2 1/2 X more for one piece than I bought two pieces for over the internet. Moral of the story, shop around before you buy the glass. In the SF area you will probably have better luck than I did locally.

For reference, these are the folks I ordered from. http://www.restoglass.com/ They had the patterns for my car, nice folks and the glass fit like OEM. However, that was about two years ago.

          And also - WELCOME!!

An auto glass shop that has been around awhile should also be able to order the channels and felts from their glass supplier.
