  • What is that stuff called?

Around the inside of the doors on my Champion, there is a 1/2 in channel that had some square black stuff that the windlace was stapled to. Do any of you know what that is and where I can buy it? I checked SI but didn't see anything that might resemble it.

    Thanks

I get mine at the upholstery supply store. It comes in a 25 foot roll.

We always called it "tack strip"... there may be a professional name though.

I bought a bunch for my T-Bird. The vendor called it "tack strip" also. I have not heard any other names (other than the usual unprintable ones when it doesn't cooperate...)

You can order it through Restoration Specialties. They have a web site. You use either tacks or staples to attach the windlace.

Restoration Specialties has it in several widths. The new stuff is a plastic derivative and works GREAT! It's incredibly flexible and accepts tacks the way you wish the original did. I used tiny sheet metal screws to attach strip to body and tacked as usual.
