    ...I installed mine backwards (NORS)and have wired it "open" so as to get some flow through the pass exhaust pipes (duals)......I don't notice any problems and I drove this vehicle up till Dec in 30-40 degree temps...Now is the time to decide which way to go. You'll need the base as a spacer if only replacing the manifold.

    The one on my 63 Lark is missing. I have had no problems driving in the cold. It just takes a little longer to warm up.

    I discarded mine on my '55, Ohio, don't drive it in 30 degree weather, don't notice any problems.

    64 cruiser heat-riser: do i need it? (NoCal)

    hello.....i am having a cracked exh manifold replaced on my pass side. the mechanic noticed that the spring-operated heat riser was disconnected by a prev. owner.
    he said we can hook it up or not, and that maybe you people here would have informed opinions about whther it is necessary in moderate SF Bay Area climate conditions.
