Very clever David! Nice to see you putting priority on the Commander instead of the Eldorado!

Here is the link to the Picasa site where I uploaded the pump rebuild, and the starting of the car. 4 videos with a poor camera man. The buzzing you hear before the car starts are my overhead lights, they can drive you nuts.

Good news! I installed the fuel pump today and started the car. (I will post a link to the site once I upload it.) The altered filter seemed to work just fine. So I think this is a fix to anyone still running an original fuel pump. The part number of the filter is NAPA 3039. I let the car run for 45 minutes or so and no leaks in the fuel system. Radiator has a slight leak, but that will be a new thread.

I altered the NAPA 3039 filter today and was able to make it fit. The base is not offset like the metal original, so the gasket will have to deform that fiber plate when clamped. The pump will have to be installed and tried before I can confirm the bowl will not leak to the base. At least this is a start to see if this one will work.

Another question.
Does the replacement pump, 4703 even have the filter built into it or was it omitted?

Here is an update.
Still working on finding a filter. It seems that it has been discontinued for a long time. I ordered a AC GF-149 and will make and attempt at altering it to fit into the pump. I was able to buy a new gasket for the bowl to pump joint. This should be made out of the alcohol resistant rubber. NAPA number 730-9510 and is a perfect fit. I have an original AC rebuild kit for the pump that I am using for reference, since all the parts are of the old rubber type. The kit came with a filter and gasket, so that has been handy in trying to figure out substitutions.
If the filter does not end up working, then at least the new gasket will seal up the filterless bowl and the in-line filter between the pump and carb will have to do all the work.

Please post if you find one that works, so I can post it on the spreadsheet. I don't have an interchange for that application either.

Fuel Pump fuel filter for 1964 6 cyl.
I am tring to find a modern day P/N for the fuel filter that goes on the underside of the fuel pump for a 1964 6 cylinder. This is the original AC pump. I tried the search feature on this board w/o any luck. The RockAuto sites lists one, but it is not correct.
Wix would be my first choice, but any brand will work and I can do the research to find a cross reference number if someone has a good number.
Thanks in advance.
