You cannot get around refurbing Stude gas tanks

    Dont always blame the gas tank. You can clean the tank perfectly, recoat the inside and still have a problem. The 50 year old gas line that runs from the tank to the fuel pump should be a suspect and replaced. The inside of the 3/8" line corrodes from within.

      Often the fuel line will rust and develop very small holes that do not leak gas but suck in air and starve the fuel pump.
      Air molecules are smaller than gas molecules and whatever gas would leak out ,it would evaporate and you can not see a gas leak.
      Temporarily replace the gas line with rubber hose all the was from the tank to the fuel pump and see if the fuel delivery problems go away.
