  • Flightomatic rebuild

Who rebuilds Flightomatic transmissions? Preferably near the Dayton-Cincinnati area, but I could ship if I had to. Thanks again-----Dan

Ask around the local Ford, Jaguar and AMC clubs also. They used the same basic Borg-Warner transmission. It's not rare nor complicated.

      Thanks for the info!

While I'm at it here--another question

I've done some reading on this tranny. When I drove this car, it shifted into second very quickly. Way too soon for my liking. I have since read that that's just the way this transmission shifts and nothing can be adjusted to change this. I would like to see it change about 20mph or so instead of 8 mph. Can this be done? If so, how easily?

      Thanks again---Dan

I assume your car is a 6cyl. due to the 1st. gear start. There is a lever coming fron thr throttle linkage to the side of the transmission connecting to the governor lever. There are threads & lock nut on the throttle link arm to adjust the travel on the governor & when gear change is put into effect.Moving the travel will effect when the trans. changes. You have to fiddle with it to get it to your liking.

Doncha hate it when somebody tell ya that it just can't be done? I think jeep used that trans too. I think I remember one that came in that was in an old postal jeep.

You right!---I do hate it when someone says it can't be done.
Thanks to all for your input.
