  • timing gear

I am in the process of changing the timing gear on a champion 6. I hooked up the puller to the timing gear and starting to take the gear off. However, one of the puller bolts merely stripped the fiber timing gear and the gear itself never moved.

So, I am wondering how to get the gear off. Since the gear is fiber (actually it looks like formed particle board) I thought about just taking a Dremel to it and taking it apart piece by piece, but thought I would solicit some other ideas from the experts here.

    Thanks.

Still stuck. I did remove the center bolt prior to starting.

One hole is stripped. I will try a propane torch tomorrow to see if a bit of heat can help.

You might try a 3 jaw type puller since you are tossing the gear
anyway, just be sure to maintain your timing alignment.
