  • Hawk serial number question

    How does one verify the two serial number tags on the car (62 Hawk)?
    One is on the passenger side upper cowl in the engine compartment and the other is on the driver side door hinge post. Are they supposed to relate?
    The DMV used the one on the hinge post.

    The one on the door post IS the serial# The tag on the firewall is the body tag and was primarily for use by the plant on tracking the body/body tub - how it was built, when it was built, etc.. They only relate in that they should both start out "62V.... Nothing else "relates" between the two tags.

    62V = 1962 V8 car
    K = hardtop body
    6 = trim level
    second line of numbers = the sequential line number for that particular 62V-K6 body tub.
