fuel gauge

I know this has been a detailed topic before, but I don't know how to do a search.
I have a new sending unit, I've run a ground wire from one of the sender mount screws to da frame and have checked send unit with ohm meter. The dash gauge goes to full when I fill up and as miles accumlate it stays on full unless I tap on the glass, then it falls to empty. It's a 66 Daytona 230 6 automatic twice door.

Anyone have an NOS gauge for sale? I believe 65/66 have the color.
I have several 63s, how do ya ckeck to see if it is a good unit?

I just finished replacing the fuel and water temperature gauges in my girlfriends 63 Lark. The gauges in her car were doing the same thing as yours. You can check the gauges with a bench power supply if you can find someone that services radios. I used mine to vary the voltage to the offending gauges and as I increased the voltage, the needles on both gauges shot off of the end of the scale. Fortunately I found good used gauges and they went into the car this afternoon. Bud
