1930 Erskine Model 53 Water Pump Repacking

I need to repack the waterpump on my 1930 Erskine (Studebaker) Model 53, does anyone know what size packing it uses? I know I can get packing from McMaster Carr, I would like to order it before I start if I can.

Can I repack it with the pump still oon the car?
