  • WHAT CARBURETOR DO I HAVE ?

Hi...I have a 1950 commander that may or may not have the correct engine...my question is on the carburetor...the carb has the following #`s
    BOWL COVER ASSEMBLY 146-69
    MAIN BODY CARTER WE 0-575
    AIR HORN 6-403
    VACUMN BODY 1-511

I could not find any info on this carb..what do I have ?...John

You have a Carter WE carburetor. I just did a random search for such and found a carburetor repair kit for it. The info I found says that the WE series was used from 1936 to 1956 and was also used on some Chevrolets. It was used on Commanders from 1938 - 1950.

    Brent's rootbeer racer.
MN iron ore...it does your body good.

I have 3 50 Commanders and they all have the Stromberg BXOV26 carbs on them. Studebaker used both the Stromberg and the carter WE627s in 1950. They used the Carter WE on a lot of champion engines. When you get a carb kit you will have to state the model carb you have

      Milt

      1947 Champion (owned since 1967)
      1961 Hawk
      1964 Convertable
      1967 Avanti
      1961 Lark 2 door
      1950 Commander Starlight

      Milt

      1947 Champion (owned since 1967)
      1961 Hawk 4-speed
